It is true that the the EZ data show no sign of improvement. This language implies that  the data is showing stagnancy and is not getting worse either. What the article is really saying is that Europe is entering a recession, and an accurate headline would read,

DATA INDICATES EURO-ZONE IS ENTERING A RECESSION

This is actually what the article is saying. It is no secret. Of course, in the interest of getting “both sides” of the story right, the writer mentions that Ireland is seeing an expansion of manufacturing activity. Ireland is about as important to the who Eurozone as New Jersey is to the United States.
