I am not surprised that China’s GDP grew at the consensus forecast rate. Other factors in China are showing a much steeper decline in growth.:
China is an opaque, totalitarian state, and, as such, its numbers cannot be trusted.
The economists surveyed also believe that growth will pick up in the second half, though they do not seem to care about the fact that the rest of the world, i.e. China’s export market, is slowing at a rapid pace.
